We carry out many facial therapy treatments at Narford Therapy Centre and a large percentage of our clients are looking for the best way to treat dry & dehydrated skin. This winter it seems that many more of us are suffering from dry skin issues and we are discussing possible causes.
Firstly its been a long, long and very cold winter so we've all been exposed to central heating, stuffy hot offices and less fresh air. Central heating is a dry heat and dehydrates the skin. Secondly many of us haven't been outside as much and so have less sunlight exposure and, while its good to avoid the harmful rays and skin needs a uv filter to protect it, the beneficial effects of sunlight such as vitamin D production are missing from our lives. What to do.....get outside whenever you can and wear a good sunscreen (this needs to be topped up at intervals.....it doesn't protect your skin all day with one application), exercise even if its just a brisk walk to increase circulation and thereby nutrients and hydration to your skin and lymphatic drainage to decrease toxins....wear a balm high in cocoa butter across your cheeks if its a cold wind ethica healing honey balm is perfect as it forms a barrier to the elements Maintain a good routine of skincare (routine being the key) ethica essentials have all you need to love your skin.
