More than any other time of year we find in our therapy centre that patients are suffering from aching muscles. This can frequently be put down to stress, tension and over exertion, however, it may also be that the mineral balance is not quite right in the body and certain salts or minerals need topping up.
We rely on certain nutrients to keep us ticking over nicely: Potassium helps the muscles to perform smoothly and transmits electrical impulses through the tissues, lack of potassium can cause constipation, irregular heartbeat and muscular cramping. Vitamin B6 protects the immune system and cells your body needs this to maintain proper bodily function including muscle function. Magnesium helps to maintain normal nerve and muscle function. A diet rich in lovely green vegetables will improve the mineral and vitamin balance in your body tofu, nuts, green veg, pumpkin = magnesium bananas, potato skins, prunes & prune juice = potassium red meat, fish, poultry, raisins, potatoes, lentils and prunes = iron. meat, fish, vegetables, nuts, seeds = vitamin b6 So...tuck in and eat well through these winter months to keep your muscles in tip top condition, exercise and stretch...and at the end of the day bathe in mineral salts to help rebalance....see our magic mineral bath with cumin, orange and ginger. x

Winter, with its frosty chill or soggy gloom as we have this morning in Norfolk, when you feel trapped a little in your cosy caves, is the time to discover new tricks as far as I'm concerned.
I am trying 'fanomenal' the lash serum from no 7 to see if it really increases lash growth as my previous attempts at false lashes or inserts leave my looking like Lilly Savage at the end of a heavy club night! The whole lash growth serum idea came from a product called bimatoprost, a treatment for glaucoma with the side effect of increasing lash growth (not without its own possible side effects) this was developed by a company called Latisse into a quite pricey but its not easy to find out if this is in the new growth serums in any form so, I shall continue my trial and post results.....prepare for a bit of batting in eight weeks! ok so winter is coming. The reports are rolling in: snow in Scotland, worst winter in a thousand years, fuel prices soar, heating cost going up....and so on.
So we got to thinking of ways to beat the winter blues: 1. wrap it up!... layer up..lots of fine layers (anyone with cashmere is blessed) get the thermals on, embrace the layered look! 2.Soup it up!.....winter broths with pearl barley, grains, lentils and winter veg like cabbage and celeriac, full of vitamins and iron to boost energy and clear the skin. 3. Soak it up!....Basking in the bath to rebalance your mineral levels with ethica magic mineral bath with magnesium & sulphate, orange ginger and cumin. 4.cover it up!...ethica winter warming balm contains organic waxes and essential oils and butters including beeswax to act as a barrier to extreme weather and lock in the moisture. Any local skincare lovers can find ethica at the very gorgeous Strattons Hotel on the 8th of December for the Christmas fair....see you there x |
