As ever, attempting to be ethical and economical this week but feeling the effects of the gloom a little.
Picked up a copy of Trinny & Suzannahs survival guide in a charity shop, lots of useful tips and shortcuts and handy to hang on to. One of the fashion gurus suggestions was to fast occasionally for a total detox and reboot, and Leslie Kenton was one of their preferred specialists. After a brief bit of research, am trying Leslie's apple fast for the next couple of days as I am without man for the next couple of days and therefor cannot be tempted by his wicked dangling of delightful distractions and delusions (i.e....."surely one glass of whisky/piece of choccie/bag of peanuts wont hurt...you deserve it....and while you're there can you get me one too") Sooo...halfway through day one and munching happily on my third apple I am quite content and smug, although I have had my morning cup of Earl Grey as life is not worth living without it and I would have to lock the kids in the cupboard to retain my sanity

In the land of economy and trying new things this week....I have coloured my hair using the new and what I now call 'fabulous' Garnier Olia no amonia hair colour and the results were pleasantly surprising.
Usually non amonias would leave some greys behind but this one certainly covered all, good even depth of colour (would suggest caution if anything with timing if your hair, like mine, is porous as it may be a little too intense)....will give it a second wash in the morning and see how it holds OMG! its cold in my house....boiler in pieces on the kitchen floor and no hope of heat for a week! Coupled with the damp n misty morning my instinct is to crawl back under the duvet and hibernate as the sensible creatures of the countryside are wont to do at this time.
However girls....as great as the temptation may be in Autumn / Winter to hunker down, wrap up and wait for Springs early light, it wouldn't do to neglect our lovely selves. Really what is called for is extra care at this time of the year rather than neglect.....we need love to see us through the chill!....and you gotta love yourselves. So...make an extra effort and take charge, its time for bubble baths with stimulating essentials like the petitgrain and Mandarin in ethica's Groovy Mama Bath Bliss....exfoliate with a home made salt scrub with added rosemary to stimulate the circulation. Warm compress your face with our organic muslin face cloth and then massage in Groovy Mama concentrate with Camelia Tea oil.......and I will give a little wish to the cosmos On what has begun as a fairly wet, drizzly and grey October the 1st, I have decided its the perfect month to take my mothers advice........"sometimes dear the only option is to shine from the inside"....now along with any other saying used by my mother (and yours too?) the translation is your own option and will only be hinted at by the accompanying 'look' that first went with it...raised eyebrow...frown...pursed lip.
I'm translating this one, for the duration of October, as "get out there, grab every beam of sunshine that sneaks through and live like it were the last days of summer" We need the vitamin D absorption that ultra violet rays assist us with to make us feel alive and maintain healthy bones and skin, so when the light is fading fast you gotta make the most of it......wrap up, power walk, run, garden, skip!!.....and wear fragrance that inspires hope and optimism, anything with citrus oils would be perfect.....our new Groovy Mama range has lots of lovely Mandarin oil to lift the spirits and clear the mind |
